Cocoon

Cocoon — A Light Sculpture

Tokujin Yoshioka has long explored light as a material, creating numerous works that embody its essence.

In 2025, Mita Garden Hills was completed in the heart of Tokyo — an architectural project that weaves together history and the future. Within this space stands Tokujin Yoshioka’s sculptural work, Cocoon.

The radiant mirrored form symbolizes the energy of life. Reflecting nature while transcending the viewer’s senses, it invites a heightened awareness of the world around us.

Shaped like a cocoon, the monumental, flowing curves of stainless steel catch and reflect the sunlight. They mirror the passage of time and the changing rhythms of nature, emitting a glow that resonates with the surrounding environment.

This sculpture of light stands as a symbol — connecting nature, humanity, and the future.

*As the artwork is located within a residential complex, it is not open to the public.
